A 1989 British sportscar can do with some upgrades. This car being driven by a lot of enthusiast over the world, some upgrades are widely regarded as useful.
I read all about them and plan on doing some too.
Upgrades
Brakes: Instead of disks in front and drums in the back I am installing the “hans daalhuizen” big brake conversion. That is conversion to all around diskbrakes. With calipers and disks also used in Chimaera and the Griffith.
I’m in the fitting process (January 2007) the are some complications. Brakelines will be replaced and are not standard. I will have to find suitable hoses.
The complete rear hubs will be replaced and the axle stubs have ABS grooves in them..those will have to be milled of. (I don’t have milling facilities…mmm) I will have to “Mc-Giver” something. This holds up progress for some time now

Fuel: The Demon tweeks power boost valve is ready to install (vertical bolts) I noticed a delay in throttle response. This solves it.
Ignition: 8,5 mm Magnecor competition leads.
MIRRORS: The original mirrors of the S 1 and 2 look a bit flimsy and don’t provide a good view because they are mounted too low. I will use the Citroen 25 type that are used on later type s an Chims
Throttle plate: It seems the the straight slotted plate which operates the throttle lever was already an upgrade. I installed the brand new j-shaped plate. after finding out about it’s use I switched back quickly. The straight plate gives beter throttle response.
Rose Jointed Anti-Roll Bar Drop Link:
TVR carparts says: The front anti-roll bar on TVR S Series cars can require constant maintenance to ensure that its bushes are not damaged and that the conection between the roll bar and the front wishbone is maintained. Due to the angles of movement involved the drop link can quickly destroy these bushes. The result is an anti-rol bar that makes a noise and fails to operate smoothly. This replacement was developed from Steve Heath’s competition Wedge and uses rose joints to fully articulate the drop links and remove the need for any bushes. The anti-roll bar is always in direct contact with the wishbone leading to its smooth application and improved handling. The drop links are supplied as a pair complete with fitting instructions
Engine: Even though the engine is fine, I found a brand new Cologne block with 0 miles still in the factory cradle.
Strictly speaking It’s not an upgrade (a Cosworth 24v would be!) but to me it is. I will use the old engine for a litle while and once trouble starts I’ll just swap.
Bonnet: Hmmmm… what partnumber.. anyone?
