I saw somebody drive one near Zuidplein a few years ago on my way to work in Rotterdam. I was driving the spitfire. Top down..Hearing the TVR I was impressed. (It might even be the one Martijn owns now: same colour and there will not be too many in the Rotterdam aerea)
2005 I was looking for a new project. The TVR came up. I won “F90 JGP” at an auction. The car was collected in February 2006 from Folkestone.
On the Left is one of the pictures the car was advertised with. Presented as an S1 but actualy it’s an S1.5 With the 2.9 instead of the essex 2.8 and the usual S2 upgrade like semi trailing arm.
When I went to pick up the car in the UK I was in for a shock because the car was in a terribly neglected state. Everything that could be rusty..was rusty. We had to sit on plastic bags tor stay dry. The car had a mouldy smell all over it. But..we drove on the train at calais and around the station to find the van and the trailer. I must say…It drove very well and it was fast! Impressive. It would be the last time it was really driven that year. It was maneuvered a bit on my driveway but soon it disappeared into the garage for a body of restoration.

The body is in good nick. No real visible paint damage except one small dent in the bonnet. All the misery was underneath.
The Chassis was rusty..and rusted trough a bit on both outriggers. (total three holes an inch in diameter) By now I have seen worse.
Rims are the OZ-racing alloys. not bad looking but it didn’t take long to get my hands on original wolfrace style wheels. Those need tyres and will be on the car as soon as I can afford the tires. These rims (like the one on the small picture below) have a more classic/period look. The set I put me hands on are in pristine condition. I might even put slicks on the for possible track days.
The Interrior used to be appealing. (Well, I think it still is..in potential) It’s the first series sweeping type dashboard. It’s got character, and is not as conventional as the later type dash.
The inside of F90 JGP has light grey half leather seats with light grey upholstered dash and grey carpet. All trimmed with burgondy lining and details. Left of the carpets is nothing more than a greyish snot. The seller supplied me with a new roll of medium grey carpet.
The hood was good except for a few small holes. But when I put the top down during a frosty afternoon to maneuver the car the rear window snapped. The thick plastic broke horizontally ruining the screen. I ordered a new mohair
navy blue hood from Car Hood Warehouse Ltd. The Targa panels have rust-swollen pegs. It will need some restoration too.
