This car is SO much fun!!!
I’ve had it about 10 years now. Every spring I “fall in love” with it again. The sound is great. It always starts righ away, she never let me down. The fun part is that because of the size of the car and the sound it really gives the sensation of speed (even when there is none:-) . For a herald bases car I thing it is very well ballanced and over and understeer is controlable by throttle. With the dubble end stainless exhaust there is a lovely, controlable backfire when lifting from the throtle….I once took a passenger on the motorway and he thought I was mad driving my “sportscar” near 200 km/hr..he didn’t look at the speedometer…I wasn’t doing more then 135..
I was treated to a lot of upgrades.
-Shocks: gaz adjustables (ride heigt with treaded racing style adjustment and firmnes with knob)
-New gearbox and overdrive, new diff (no whine anymore) alloy rocker cover, chrome headers, full stainless exhaust with stainles flexpipeconnection. new carpet set (turned somewhat shabby by now.
-Mohair hood (fitted badly)
-One set of AT alloy’s with 185 tires rear and 175′s front. One set of 5,5j rims from the GT-6
-Newly veneered dash with teak.
-great looking steering wheel (I still have the original, and a tr7 one)
-A job I think I had lot of pleasure from is the complete carburettor overhaul I dit in 2000. New needles in ..chamber. new needles and new jets. The overrun valve is soldered shut (better!) The carbs can be adjusted much easier when the needles and jets don’t have wear.
I like tinkering with this car. It’s light accessable, parts are cheap and abundantly available. Everything is straightforward and elementary.
