Some pictures of the flagship. The fine Jaguar XJ-6 .
I bought it in december 2002. It’s the fuel injected 4.2 litre staight 6 Very comfortable but this example proofed to be high maintainance.
The car I had before this one was a Mexico brown Rover p6 (3500 v8) someone totalled it and I needed a economical saloon.
I saw the Jaguar and it seemed sound so bought it. I think this is the modern jag with the most elegant design
Series X:….Modifications
The XJ has 3 series
series 1 has low front crome bumper and rounded roofline and tearshaped rearlights Engine has SU carbs
series 2 has higher front chrome bumpers and rounded roofline and tearshaped rearlights engine has SU carbs
Series 3 has rubber bumpers and a squared roofline and triangular rearlights and Fuel injection.
Funny thing about my car is…it has 1978 plates (S2) but it has a squared roofline (S3), chrome bumpers and tearshaped rearlights. (2)..and fuel injection (S3). verdict….It is a 1983 series III with series 2 details. Well whatever…the benifits from a modern car but the looks and tax exempt from a classic car. i’m fine with that.
I’ve done some modification myself too.
It used to have a wine red leather interrior but I got a hold of a new conolly biscuit leather set. Very nice with bleu lining.
(By now that has some wear because of me using it so much and because after treating the leather on a warm sommer day my butt adhered to the leather and while getting up i took some paint off the leather. Really a shame! )
Other non original thing is the centre console lid. I fitted the XK8 version WITH the cupholder!!! It is truly great! The double folding cupholders!
